History
Madison Handbags was founded by Trish Rost in 2005. Trish came up with the concept because she saw the tremendous potential and positive effect that a direct selling company can have in women’s lives. The next decision was what to sell. Purses came to mind, but who would design them? Then it hit her; the customer would! The Madison Handbag concept was born.
In the beginning, all the handbags were sewn by a network of home sewers who would receive each bag as a kit – ready to be sewn. All the orders were cut by Trish and her neighbor in Trish’s basement cutting room. The very first Madison Handbags party was held in April of 2005 at the home of Carol Patterson in Taghkanic, NY.
By the fall of 2006, the company had grown enough to necessitate the use of a small facility in upstate New York to produce the handbags for us. In early 2009, we were ready to launch our own production facility. Today all the bags are hand cut and hand sewn there, in Troy, NY. We employ in-house sewers as well as home sewers. In loyalty to the home sewers who got Madison Handbags started, we continue to give the home sewers as much work as they desire. Each bag is made one at a time to ensure that the quality of pride in workmanship shows through. Every bag comes with a note card inside personally signed by the seamstress who made it for you.
We are proud to be providing manufacturing jobs, a business opportunity for all of our sales consultants, as well as products "Made in America".
